This veteran spent 3 1/2 years in the Navy and was working in the prison system when he lost his job due to the pandemic. He was unable to pay his rent and became homeless. He spent over a year couch surfing and in the veterans shelter before obtaining a voucher for the apartment you see in the photos below. Our client was going to move in with very few possessions and did not have anywhere to sleep or eat a meal until today. Using just gently used furniture and household items along with several new items, we were able to create the home you see below. Lonnie asked us for specifically a La-Z-Boy recliner, since we did not have one, our designer Mary Gibbons found one on marketplace and purchased one for him - we think it was the one thing he like the most in the entire apartment! Marilyn Cahill and Marie Gibbons found out that he wanted a masculine decor and earth tones and that he loves to cook. they noticed that there wasn’t enough counter space so they went in on a movable kitchen island and gifted that to him. He now has a kitchen that has enough space for him to prepare meals and a table for him to enjoy them at.

Thank you Marilyn Cahill for going above and beyond and finding the adorable outside set for the back patio and for Sara Norgle for donating it! It really made the back porch look bright and inviting!
