Persian Gulf Navy Veteran Gets a Home to be Proud of!

Move-in 175

Design Leads Kathy Robbins and Roxanne Lostroscio touched our client's heart today with personal touches that left our Navy Vet speechless. This Navy veteran ,who served our country in the Persian Gulf war, faced challenges here at home that caused him much distress. After many successful years as a Certified Nursing Assistant, his health problems caught up with him, causing financial difficulties, and he ended up homeless. He is on the kidney transplant list and receives dialysis three times a week. He had been living in a homeless shelter, but thanks to Gabriela Marcinowski at the Veterans Administration, he was able to secure a two-bedroom apartment where his two young grandsons can stay with him.

Leads Kathy & Roxanne led a volunteer team that worked magic in this vintage apartment. The team included veteran volunteers , driver Don Spetter, Julia Grosch, Mike Grosch, Judith Coleman, and Ana Wildon. Newcomers to our move-in roster included our treasurer Ev Teglia, Cole Parsons, Jacki Gould, Caryn Klein, and Tammy Walczyk. Special thanks to Linda Farley for all the beautiful gift baskets and to Tracy Canfield for the hand crafted pillowcases.
